A class of students sent Fred a letter from their librarian and paperback copy of S.H. Hinton’s The Outsiders. The letter had dozens of signatures from the school kids advocating that Fred and Francis make the movie. Fred reviewed the material and brought it from inception through fruition. The film is recognized as having one of the most iconic cast of all time, discovering generation of movie stars. The rest is legend. Most recently the novel and movie evolved to a Tony Award winning for “Best Musical” Broadway hit.
