In the 60s, after a decade of collaborating together, Fred tried to break Jack Nicholson in as a film and television star. They finally created an opportunity to do low budget films with a “Roger Corman” like company. Jack Nicholson wrote and starred in the movies Monte Hellman directed. This was a launching point for Jack’s career as an actor and Fred‘s career as a producer.

Prior to Fred’s transition into producing, he built a reputation as a master casting Director. He cast many iconic films and television shows from the 60’s. Among the notable television series: I Spy, Andy Griffith, Mayberry RFD, That Girl, and Petula

With George Lucas, Fred had two major collaborations: American Graffiti and Star Wars.
